Volunteer
New Perspectives relies on the help of volunteers every season for the success of our productions! The bulk of our season’s activities fall from September to June. We are looking for people who want to get involved and have particular areas of expertise (press and marketing, community outreach, fundraising, event planning), and a general enthusiasm for theatre. We are always looking for new board members to help guide the organization to our 30th anniversary year. If you are interested in volunteering please contact us for more information. Thank you!

Internships
NPTC works primarily with high school and college students to provide a true hands-on experience in the administrative and production aspects of not-for-profit theatre and the development of new works/plays for performance. Structured internships are created on an individual basis and students will have the opportunity to develop and improve their communication, organizational, and conceptual skills through real-world assignments and working alongside professional theatre practitioners. We also accept applications from college graduates, graduate students, and those not in school.
NOTE: WE DO NOT OFFER INTERNSHIPS specifically IN ACTING OR TECHNICAL THEATRE/DESIGN, BUT INTERNS WILL BE EXPOSED TO THESE ASPECTS OF THEATRE THROUGH VARIOUS PRESENTATIONS (READINGS, SHORT PLAY FESTIVAL, ETC.)
We welcome our interns into a community of dedicated theatre professionals who believe deeply in their role of artists-as-mentors. NPTC is especially interested in mentoring young people who have limited access to supportive learning environments due to their race/ethnicity, economic status or other factors that might create barriers to in-depth opportunities for development.
NPTC internships are unpaid and we are unable to assist with housing or accommodations in New York City. We are happy to complete any documentation for students who are required to serve as an intern for academic credit through their school. We encourage applicants who are not participating for academic credit to explore financial stipends or other resources such as housing at their educational institution or from other organizations as early as possible.
We encourage applications from populations underrepresented in the theater field—Black, Indigenous, People of Color, women, transgender and non-binary candidates—are strongly encouraged to apply. We also welcome applicants from nontraditional backgrounds, including, but not limited to, returning and neurodiverse students. NPTC also welcomes adult learners interested in expanding their skills and experience. To date we have had visiting professionals from Canada, China, Ireland, Tasmania, France and Germany.
We require a minimum commitment of 6 weeks in order to make the internship worthwhile.
Due to the size of our company, we are only able to accept a limited number of interns. We recommend applying early and well in advance of the cutoff date.
The deadline for applications for Summer 2025 is April 1, 2025.
If you are interested in becoming an intern, please send:
your resume

Feel free to contact us with any questions!
