Internships

NPTC works with high school and college students to provide a true hands-on experience in the administrative and production aspects of not-for-profit theatre and the development of new works/plays for performance. Structured internships are created on an individual basis and students will have the opportunity to develop and improve their communication, organizational, and conceptual skills through real-world assignments and working alongside professional theatre practitioners.

Note: we do not offer internships in Acting or Technical Theatre/Design, but interns will be exposed to these aspects of theatre through various presentations (readings, short play festival, etc.)

We welcome our interns into a community of dedicated theatre professionals who believe deeply in their role of artists-as-mentors. NPTC is especially interested in mentoring young people who have limited access to supportive learning environments due to their race/ethnicity, economic status or other factors that might create barriers to in-depth opportunities for development.

NPTC internships are unpaid.

We are happy to complete any documentation for students who are required to serve as an intern for credit.

We encourage applicants who are not participating for credit to explore financial support at their educational institution as early as possible, or from organizations such as Ladders for Leaders, a program of the City of New York which pays for 6-week summer internships for high school and college students.

NPTC also welcomes adult learners interested in expanding their skills and experience. To date we have had visiting professionals from Canada, China, Ireland, Tasmania, France and Germany.

If you are interested in becoming an intern, please send:

  • your resume

  • the dates and times you are interested in working

  • a paragraph or cover letter explaining what you are interested in doing as an intern to contact@newperspectivestheatre.org

Feel free to contact us with any questions!

We are currently accepting applications for spring 2025 on a rolling basis.
